Forsomuch as our Estates of our Kingdome of SCOTLAND conveened in our generall convension holden at Our Pallace of Haly-rude-house , vpon the 28 day of Iulij , the yeare of GOD 1630 yeares vpon verie great considerations , mouing them , and for a testimonie of their vnfained affections towards our seruice , and for supplie of a part of the great charges which our repairing to Our said Kingdome , for receiuing of our imperiall Crowne of the same will necessarilie draw vpon vs , and for defraying of our debts which wee haue contracted for buying of heritable Offices , Haue made a free and willing offer of a yearelie extra-ordinarie Taxation of the twentie pennie of all anwelrents , which anie person or persons within our said Kingdome , haue freelie due , and payable to them yearlie or tearmlie : ( Their owne anwelrents wherin they are addebted to others beeing first deduced ) . The first tearms payment whereof is to bee , and beginne at the feast and tearme of Mertimesse nextocome and so foorth yearelie and tearmelie at Mertimesse and Whitsonday , vntill the said foure yeares and the eight tearmes payment thereof bee full and compleatlie out-runnne . And whereas Our Estates haue by Act of the said convention authorized all and sundrie heritable Shirreffes , Stewarts , Ba●llies , and Baillies of Regalities , and their Deputs , and the Prouest and Baillies of free Borrowes within the bounds of their Jurisdictions . As likewise the Clerks within the Jurisdictions , where these Offices are not heritable ( which Clerks haue their Offices advitam To Colllect the said extra-ordinarie Taxation , and to make payment thereof to the Collector generall to bee appointed by WS for receiuing of the same . Therefore and for inbringing of the Tearms payment of the said extra-ordinarie Taxation , Our other letters are direct charging all and sundrie heitable Syrreffes , Stewarts , Baylies , and Baillies of Regalities their Deputs , and Clerks , and the Prouest and Baillies of free Borrowes , and their Clerks , as likewise the Clerks within the Jurisdictions , where these offices are not heritable , That they and euerie one of them dwelling be North the River of Dee within the space of fifteene dayes after the said Tearme of in the yeare of God , A thousand sixe hundreth thirtie : And that they and euerie one of them dwelling be south the River of Dee within the space of Ten dayes , after the said Tearme , Deliver to Our Collector generall appoynted by WS for receiuing of the said extra-ordinarie Taxation , A true and just accompt & inventar of the whole summes of money due to bee payed by any person within the bounds of their Iurisdictions for his part of the said extraordinarie Taxation , And that they giue vp the same accompt and inuentare vpon their oathes solemnedlie sworn , that the same is just and true , And make payment to Our said Collector generall , or to his Deputes in his Name , haueing his Power to receiue the same of the whole moneys due to bee payed to Vs conforme to the said accompt , and inventar for the said Tearmes payment of the said extra-ordinarie Taxation within Twentie dayes after the Tearme of in the yeare of God A a thousand sixe hundreth thirtie and vnder the paine of rebellion , and putting of them to Our horne For whose reliefe .

OVR WILL is , and Wee charge you straitlie and commands , that incontinent these Our Letters , seene yee passe and in Our Name and authoritie command and charge all and sundrie the saids anwelrenters dwelling within that Our To make payment to you Our said and your Deputs of the said Twentie pennie of all anwelrents freelie due and payable to them , As for the said Tearmes payment of the said extraordinarie Taxation , within twentie dayes next after they bee charged by you thereto , Vnder the paine of rebellion and putting of them to Our horne . And if they failyie the saids twnetie dayes beeing by-past , That yee incontinent therafter denounce the Dissobeyers , Our Rebels , and put them to Our horne , And escheit and inbring all their moueable goods to Our vse for their contemption . And if need be that yee Our said poynd and distrienyie therefore , As yee shall thinke most expedient . According to Justice As yee will answere to Vs therevpon . The Which to doe Wee commit to you conjunctlie and seueralie Our full power : By these our Letters deliuering them by you duelie execute and indorsed againe to the bearer .
