WHere it is ordayned and prouided by a statute made and established in the Parliament holden at Westminster , the the viii . day of Iune in the xxviii . yeere of the raigne of the Queenes Maiesties dearly beloued father , of famous memorie king Henry the eight , that the prices of al kinde of wines , ( that is to say ) of the Tonne , Butte , Pipe , Punchion , Hogshed , Tyerse , Barrell , Rundlet , when it shoulde be solde in grosse , should be limitted and declared by the Lord Chauncelor of Englande , Lorde Treasourer of Englande , Lorde President of the said Kings most honourable Counsel , Lord priuie Seale , & the two chiefe Iustices of either Bench , or fiue , foure , or three of them , & that the same should be sold according to the same prices so by them set & taxed , vpon payne & penaltie conteyned in the sayde Act. forasmuch as the Lord Chauncelor of England , Lord Treasourer of Englande , & the two L . chiefe Iustices for diuerse considerations them moouing , and according to the effect and meaning of the sayde statute and Acte , haue in writing by their deliberate aduises vpon conference had with sundry persons thereto requisite , taxed , limitted , assigned , and appoynted the prices of Gascoigne and french wines , to be solde within this her highnesse Realme for this yeere following ( that is to saye ) Euery Tonne of the best Gascoigne and french wines to be solde ( the seller bearing all the charges due and payable to her Maiestie in her custome house ) after the rate and price of twelue poundes sterling and not aboue . The buyer bearing all the saide charges , after the price and rate of ix . li.vi.s.viii.d . sterling the Tonne and not aboue . And euery Pipe , Hogshed , Tyerse , Barrell , Rundlette , and other vessels of the same seuerall wynes to be solde in grosse , after their quantities according to the same rates and not aboue . And euery Tonne of Rochell and other small and thynne wynes to be solde ( the seller bearing all the charges due and payable to her Maiestie in her custome house ) afer the price and rate of tenne poundes sterling the Tonne , and not aboue . And the buyer bearing the said charges , at vii . li.s.viii.d . sterling the Tonne , & not aboue . And euery Pipe , Hogshed Tierse , Barrel , Rundlet , and other vessels of the same seuerall wynes to be solde in grosse after their quantities according to the same rates ( and not aboue . ) The Queenes most excellent Maiestie therefore strayghtly chargeth and commaundeth a●l and singuler her louing Subiects , and others , putting any maner Gascoigne , French , Rochell , or other small or thinne wynes to sale within this her highnesse Realme , that they ne any of them , in any maner of wise , by any craft , couen or priuate agreement , shall sell any Gascoigne , French , Rochell , or other small or thynne wines , otherwise then is aboue limitted , vpon payne to forfaite and paye such penalties as be conteyned and expressed in the saide statute , or in any other statute made or ordeyned for the same . And moreouer her highnesse pleasure and commandement is , that all and singuler Maiors , Sheriffes , Bailiffes , Constables , and other Officers , to whom it appertayneth , that they , and euery of them with diligence , cause and see that this her proclamation be put in due execution , after the tenor of the same , and also according to another Acte of Parliament established in the Parliament aboue rehearsed , agaynst such as will refuse to sell their wines at prices taxed as is aforesayd , as they will answere thereto at their perilles .
