WHeras the Queenes Maiestie doth vnderstand , that notwithstanding her late Proclamation concerning such persons as wander abroad in the habite of Souldiers , there are diuers persons pretending to haue serued in the late warres and seruice as Souldiers , that remaine within and about the Cities of London and Westminster , whereof some are maymed , others haue receiued hurtes and woundes , or haue other infirmitie whereof they are not as yet perfectly cured : And some amongst these haue neither bene maymed nor hurt , nor yet serued at all in the warres , but take that cloake and colour , to bee the more pitied , and doe liue about the Citie by begging and the disorderly manner : For which consideration the Lordes of her Maiesties Councill haue appoynted certaine of the Iustices of the Peace , as well in the Citie of London as in the Countie of Middlesex , with the Treasourer of the Warres for the Lowe Countreyes , and Fraunce , and other discreete persons before whome all these kinde of people shal be brought at the Sessions hall in the Olde Balie , and by them to bee examined and viewed in what sort they are hurt , or diseased and maymed , that some good order may be taken for the reliefe of such of them as shall bee founde to haue receiued any mayme or hurt in Seruice , and for the punishment of others that being common Beggers , Roges and able persons , do counterfaite the name of Souldiers , or though they haue serued , do remaine without any iust cause about this towne , & therefore they haue commanded that the Sheriffes of the Citie of London , & in the countie of Middlesex , shall make proclamation that al such souldiers as haue serued in these late warres in the low Countreys or Fraunce which remaine about this Citie , shal repaire vnto the Sessions hall in the olde Balie on Saterday next , at one of the clocke in the afternoone to be ther : by the Commissioners examined , viewed and tryed whether they haue serued , and to shew their Pasportes : and that such as shal not appeare before the said Commissioners , and shall not be allowed to haue serued as Souldiers by the Billets of the sayde Commissioners signed with their hands to bee by the Iustices of the Peace , Constables , Headborowes and all others her Maiesties officers as well within the Citie , as in the exempt places for the Countie of Middlesex , and the seuerall liberties , committed to Prison to be Indyted and punished as Rogues and Vagarant persons .
