IT is Our Princely Office and care to prouide that all parts , Estats and Degrees of our People bee sustained and cherished , and that they may receiue mutuall comfort the one by the other , especially where the need is most : And that the ancient and lawdable customes of this Our Realme be continued and obserued , and new inconueniences ( which the times doe dayly breed ) repressed and preuented ; Whereas therefore We are giuen to vnderstand , That there is a great repaire and confluence , aswell to the Cities of London and Westminster , and the Suburbs of them , as to other Cities within Our Kingdome , of Noblemen and Gentlemen , who are Our principall Ministers for the gouernment of the seuerall Counties of Our Kingdome , in respert of Our Commissions of Lieutenancie and the Peace : And that their comming is with purpose to liue and abide in the said Cities and places with their families for this whole Winter , or at least during the Christmas time ; whereby the gouernment of the Countreys will be weakened , Hospitalitie and the reliefe of the poore ( especially at such a time ) decayed , and the said Cities , and places surcharged and pestered , and the prices of Victuals there , and all other prouisions and things excessiuely raysed and inhaunsed : Wee doe by these presents will and command , aswell all Our Lieutenants and Noblemen ( except such as be of Our Priuie Councell , or beare any Office about the Person , or Court of Our selues , or Our deare and welbeloued Consort the Queene , ) and likewise all Deputie Lieutenants , and Justices of Peace ; That they and euery of them doe immediatly vpon the end of this present Terme , being the Nine and twentieth day of Nouember , from the said Cities and places , repaire vnto their seuerall Countryes to attend their seruice there , and to keepe House and Hospitalitie , as appertaineth to their place and degree , vpon paine of Our high displeasure , and such punishment as is due for the contempt of Our Royall commandement .
