FOrasmuch as Edward Ekins , late of Stanwick in Our Countie of Northampton , Yeoman , hauing beene a principall Malefactor ( amongst diuers others ) in a late outrage committed in Our Parke of Higham-Ferries , by violent entring thereinto , killing and carrying away Our Deare , and beating and wounding Our Keepers there , doth now lurke and keepe himselfe close in some secret place , and will not submit himselfe to Iustice , to the great abuse and vnsufferable contempt of Vs , and Our Regall authoritie ; Wee haue thought fit to publish the same to all Our louing Subiects , not doubting of their care and forwardnesse in his discouery and apprehension : And doe hereby charge and command , all Iustices of Peace , Maiors , Sheriffes , Bayliffes , Constables , Headboroughs , and all other Our Officers , Ministers and Subiects whatsoeuer , to be diligent in inquiring and searching for the said Edward Ekins in all places whatsoeuer , aswell within Liberties as without ; whom if they shall happen to take , Our pleasure is , that they cause him to be safely brought before one of the next Iustices of the Peace to the place , and of the County where he shal be found , which Iustice Wee doe hereby command to take sufficient bond of him , with two able sureties , for the personall appearance of the said Ekins in Our high Court of Star-Chamber , to answere the premisses within some conuenient time after his apprehension , and not to depart without licence of that Court. And if he refuse to enter into such bond , or cannot find sufficient sureties in that behalfe , That then the said Iustice doe send him with sufficient guard to the Goale of the Countie , or place where he shall be taken , there to remaine in safe custody , and withall presently to aduertise one of Our principall Secretaries thereof , for such further course to be taken with him , as We shall giue direction ; Letting all Our louing Subiects know , that if any person or persons , after this Our Proclamation published , shall directly , or indirectly conceale , harbour , keepe , reteine , or maintaine the said Edward Ekins , or shall not vse his or their best endeauour for his apprehension , aswell by giuing due aduertisement thereof to Our Officers , as by all other good meanes , Wee will ( as there is iust cause ) proceede against them , that shall so neglect this Our Commandement , with all seueritie .
