WHereas there hath fallen out an interruption of Amitie , betweene the Kings Maiestie , and the most Christian King , which the common Friends , and ancient Allyes of both the Crownes , haue earnestly laboured to repaire , by propounding and negotiating a reconcilement betweene them vpon honourable considerations , as well to their Kingdomes , as the generall estate of Christendome : The Kings Maiestie thereupon considering how pleasing it is to Almighty God , and necessary to the present constitution of publique affaires , to haue Concord and good Intelligence with such as hee his Neighbours , and are further so neerely allyed vnto him , hath renewed the ancient Amitie betwixt the two Crownes , their Realmes , Countreys , Cities Townes , Lands , Dominions , Territories , Signiories , Castles , and Subiects by Land , Sea , and Fresh-waters : By which Peace it is already prouided , that all Hostilitie and Warre , aswell by Sea as Land , shall cease on either party , from the fourteenth day of April last , and that the sayd Kings , and their Subiects , shall liue together in Peace , and that it shall bee lawfull for their said Subiects , freely , peaceably , and quietly to goe , come , remaine , and to vse and exercise their Trade and Commerce , and doe all things else whatsoeuer in each others Countreys , as freely as it hath been done in any former time of Peace had betweene the sayd Realmes , and according to the ancient Treaties and Alliances betweene them , with opening of safe and free Trade betwixt the Kings Dominions , according to those Treaties .

And it is further ordained by the said Peace , in regard there are many Ships at sea with Letters of Marque , which cannot so soone take knowledge of this Peace , nor receiue direction to forbeare Hostilitie , that as whatsoeuer hath been , or shall bee done , during the space of two moneths after the said fourteenth of April last , shall not derogate from , nor hinder the sayd Peace of the two Crownes ; so whatsoeuer hath beene , or shall be taken within the aforesaid time , shall be restored , as well on the one side as on the other . All which premises , His Maiesty hath thought meete to notifie to all manner of His Subiects , of what estate soeuer the same bee , strictly chargeing , and commanding them to obserue , performe , and accomplish all that hereunto belongeth , as it is certainely promised to be published on the French Kings side , the date of these presents being the tenth of May , 1629.
