O Lord God of Hostes , euerlasting and most mercifull Father , we thine vnworthy creatures doe yeeld vnto thy diuine Maiestie all possible prayse and humble thankes for thine infinite benefites , which thou hast of long time plentifully powred vpon thine Handmaiden , & humble seruant our Soueraigne Lady the Queene , and vpon her whole Realme , and vs her Subiects the people of this Kingdome . And namely , O Lord , for that graciously respecting vs in the merites of thy deere Sonne our Sauiour , and by his intercession passing ouer and forgiuing our manifold sinnes , thou hast this present Sommer so fauourably conducted the Royall Nauie and Armie sent to the Seas by our Gracious Queene ( not for any other worldly respects , but onely for defence of this Realme , and vs thy people , against the mighty preparations of our Enemies threatning our ruine , ) by safely directing them vnto places appointed , and by strengthening the Gouernours and Leaders of the same with counsell and resolution , and blessing them with notable victories both by Sea and Land , whereby the insolencies and pride of our Enemies , which sought our conquest and subuersion , is by these late victories notably daunted , repulsed , and abased . Graunt vnto vs ( most mercifull Father ) the grace , with due thankfulnesse to acknowledge thy fatherly goodnesse extended vpon vs by the singular fauour shewed to thy Seruant and Minister our Soueraigne Lady and Queene . And for thy holy Name continue these thy woonderfull blessings still vpon vs , to defend vs against our Enemies , and blesse vs with thy gracefull hand to the endlesse prayse of thy holy Name , and to our lasting ioy . And direct our Armies by thy prouidence and fauourable support , to finish these late victories to the honour of our Soueraigne , and safetie of her Realme , that hath most carefully made the same able to ouermatch her Enemies : So as the Noble men , and all others seruing in the same Nauie and Armie vnder their charge may with much honour , triumph , and safetie returne home to their Countries , and to giue thee due thankes for thy special fauours merueilously shewed vnto them in preseruing of them all this Sommer time from all contagion and mortalitie by sword or sicknesse , notwithstanding their force and violence most manfully exercised against their Enemies , to the vanquishing of great numbers both by Sea & Land , and to the destruction of their most mighty Ships , that heretofore haue attempted to inuade this Realme , and of their Fortes and Castles , and waste of their notable substances of their riches , without hurting any person that did yeelde , or of any women or children , or Religious persons , to whom all fauour was shewed that they did require . All which prosperous successes we do most iustly acknowledge ( O Lorde ) to haue proceeded onely from thy speciall fauour , to whom with thy Sonne and holy Ghost be all honour and prayse . Amen .
