THe Earl of Middleton acquaints the House from His Majesty , That His Majesty had received a Letter from the Mayor of Lime in Dorset , giving an Account of the Landing of the Duke of Monmouth , and Forces with him , on Thursday night last .

The Letter was read to the House .

Resolved Nemine Contradicente ,

That the most humble and hearty Thanks of this House begiven to His Majesty , for His gracious Message to this House , Communicating the Landing of the Duke of Monmouth , and that this House will stand by and Assist His Majesty with their Lives and Fortunes against the said Duke , his Adherents and Correspondents , and all Rebels and Traitors , and all others whatsoever , that shall Assist them , or any of them ; and that an Address be drawn up accordingly .

Resolved that a Bill be brought in for preservation o● His Majesties Royal Person .

Resolved that a Bill be brought in for the Attainter o● the Duke of Monmouth for high Treason .

Mr. Sollicitor General reports from the Committe● appointed to draw up an Address to His Majesty ; prepared according to the aforesaid Resolve , which h● read , and the same agreed to by the House .

Ordered , That such Members of the House as are 〈◇〉 the Privy Council , be desired to know His Majesti●● Pleasure , when this House may wait on His Majest●… Mr. Thorold and Mr. Dassel were called in , and gav● a large Account at the Barr , of the Landing of the Duk● of Monmouth and his Company at Lyme , on Thursday night last . The Lord Middleton acquaints the House that His Maiesty hath appointed them to attend Him at five the afternoon in the Banqueting-House .

Adjourned till four Afternoon .

The House being Mett in order to attend His Majesty in the Banqueting-House , Adjourned till 9 Monday morning .

WE your Majesties most Loyal Subjects , the Commons of England in Parliament Assembled , Do with all Duty return our most humble and hearty Thanks for Your Majesties Gracious Message Communicated to us by the Earl of Middletoun , one of Your Majesties principal Secretaries of State , of the Invading this your Kingdom , by that ungrateful Rebel , James Duke of Monmouth , and do with all Duty and Loyalty , and utter Detestation of such Rebels and Traytors , assure Your Majesty , that we are , and alwise shall be ready to stand by and Assist Your Majesty with our Lives and Fortunes against the said James Duke of Monmouth , and his Adherents and Correspondents , and all Rebels and Traytors , and all others whatsoever , that shall Assist them , or any of them .

And since the preservation of Your Majesties Person is of the highest concern to the Peace and Happiness of the Kingdom ; We Your most Dutiful and Loyal Subjects , do most humbly beseech Your Majesty to take more than ordinary care of Your Royal Person , which we beseech God long to preserve .
