ACT Discharging Persons to Travel from Edinburgh without Passes . Edinburgh , December 8. 1696.

THe Lords of His Majesties Privy Council , for the better keeping and securing the Peace of the Kingdom , have thought fit to appoint , and hereby Appoint and Ordain , that none presume to travel from Edinburgh , to any part of the Kingdom without a Pass from one or other of their Lordships Number , bearing their Names , and the place to which they are designed to go ; Certifying such as shal be found to contraveen this Act , that they shall be stopped till they be farder examined ; And all Magistrats , and other Officers Civil or Military are to take care that these presents be duely observed : And Ordains these presents to be Printed , and Published , that none pretend Ignorance .
