ACT of Privy Council , Anent the Punishment of these who refuse to Serve in the Foot-Militia . Edinburgh , the 25. of October , 1688.

THe Lords of His Majesties Privy Council being informed , that some persons who are pitched upon by the Leaders and Out-reikers of the Foot-Militia , refuse the said Service , upon the ordinary and accustomed Pay ; Do hereby Require ●nd Authorize , the Justices of Peace , Commissioners of Assesment , or the Militia , to Seize upon any person so Refusing , and to Imprison them in the next convenient Prison , and to Fine them in the Sum of Twenty pounds Scots , and to inflict upon them such Corporal Punishments as they shall think fit , by Whipping or otherways . For doing whereof , these Presents shall be their Warrant . Extracted forth of the Records of Privy Council by me
