❧ By the King . ❧ A Proclamation for the repressing and punishing of the late Rebellious and Traiterous assemblies in Lambeth , Southwark , and other places adjoyning ; and particularly for the apprehension of John Archer , George Seares , William Seltrum , and divers other Rebellious persons .

WHereas all those Rebellious and Tumultuous persons , who upon Munday and Thursday nights last , assembled themselves together in a warlike manner in Lambeth , Southwark , and other places , neere unto the City of London , and those who abett , or knowingly conceal , harbour , and relieve them , by the Lawes and Statutes of the Realm are guilty of high Treason ; His Majestie out of His Princely care , to prevent any danger that may happen to His Loving and Loyall Subjects , doth hereby straitly charge and command them , That they and every of them do forthwith use their utmost diligence and endeavour to finde out and apprehend the persons of John Archer of Southwark , Glover , George Seares , Poulterer , and William Seltrum , Shoomaker , who have been principall Actors in the said Traiterous and Rebellious Assemblies : And that they further discover and apprehend all other the said wicked and Rebellious persons , and bring them before His Majesties Iustices of Peace , or other Magistrates , whereby they may be delivered over into the hands of Iustice : And that they do not presume to harbour , aide , relieve , or conceal them , or any of them , as they will avoide the penalties of the Law in the case of high Treason .

And His Majestie doth further straitly charge and command all Housholders , Citizens , and Inhabitants within the Cities of London and Westminster , and the Suburbs thereof , and the Borough of Southwark , and Lambeth , and all other Towns , Villages , and places adjoyning , That they be vigilant and carefull from time to time , to keep their Apprentices and Servants in good government and order within their own houses , and not to suffer them in any night to be , or lodge out of the same , as they will answer the contrary at their utmost perils . And lastly , His Majestie doth require and command , as well the Lord Maior of the City of London , and all Lord-Lieutenants , and Deputy-Lieutenants , as all Iustices of Peace , Maiors , Sheriffes , Bayliffs , Constables , Headboroughs , and all other His Officers , Ministers , and Subjects , to be assisting , helping , and aiding in the execution of these His Majesties Royall commands , as they tender the common peace and good of the Kingdom .

Given at the Court at Whitehall this fifteenth day of May , in the sixteenth yeer of His Majesties Reign . ❧ God save the King .
