THe Kings Majestie being informed that the Souldiers under the Regiment of Colonell Lunsford , were fallen into such Mutiny against their Officers , and disorder otherwayes , in the Countie of Warwick , in their passage thorow that County , as that a great part of them are run away , and the rest persisting in so much disobedience , as that they are ready all to disband ; And that there is such a generall remisnesse and backwardnesse in the Deputy Lieutenants , and others to whom it appertains , to countenance and assist the Commanders and Officers in punishing and reducing them to conformity and obedience , ( as they seem rather to animate and incourage them therein , then seriously endeavour their reformation ) and especially in the raising and following of Hue and Crie , for the apprehending of those that run away ; And for that also information hath been given to His Majesties Privie Counsell from other Counties , of the like Mutinies and disorders , and of the like remisnesse and backwardnesse ( though not in so high a degree ) in those that should assist the Commanders and Officers for punishing and suppressing the same , whereby a great number of the Souldiers are disbanded and run away , to the great disservice of His Majestie and the Publike , and the high contempts & scandall of all Authority and Government : His Majestie therefore to prebent and represse all such disorders ; Doth ( with the ad vice of His Privie Counsell ) hereby straitly charge and command , all deputy Lieutenants , Iustices of Peace , Majors , Sheriffs , Bailiffs , Constables , Headboroughs , and other His Officers and Ministers whatsoever , to whom it shall appertain , that from time to time they use all diligence and endeavour , for the apprehending and due punishing , according to the Laws and Statutes of the Realm , all those Souldiers prested for His Majesties service , that in this expedition into the North shall be found to have run away , or departed from their Commanders and Officers ; And that they likewise assist and endeavonr all that possibly they may , in punishing and suppressing all Mutinies of the Souldiers against their Officers , or any other insolenties and disorders committed , or to be committed by them . And herein His Majestie will require a strict account of all such His deputy Lieutenants , Iustices of Peace , and other His Ministers , as shall be remisse in countenancing and assisting the said Commanders and Officers , and in punishing of Mutinous and disorderly Souldiers , or in raising and following Hue and Crie after such as shall run away , or depart from their Captains , o● otherwise shall not take care to prevent or represse all such disorders .
