His Majesty taking into His Princely consideration the present Condition of divers of His good Subjects now in , and about the City of Oxford , who have faithfully served Him in His Warre , against those who are in Rebellion against Him , and in that service have received divers maymes , and wounds , whereof they are not yet cured , nor can be without care and cost , in attending them and providing for them ; and His Majesty having already taken them , and others of the like condition , into His Gracious consideration to provide for their sustentation for the future , as appears by His Proclamation of the date of the second of this present Moneth . But by reason of the many , and those important occasions He hath otherwise , He cannot for the present so provide for these poore distressed Soules as He would , and as the necessity of their cases doth require , Doth therefore out of His Princely goodnesse recommend them to the Charity of His well-disposed Subjects , out of their bounty and compassion to contribute towards their present releife , in such measure and manner as God shall move their hearts unto . And for the better collecting thereof , He doth require , That on the next Sunday , or Lords day , in every Colledge in the Vniversity at such time as they shall think fit , and in every Church in this City and Suburbs , this His pleasure be signified at morning-Prayer in those Churches , and either the Church-wardens , or some other persons of honesty and discretion in every of those places , to be appoynted by the Major of the City , shall receive those Collections . And His Majesty doth hereby require that they who shall be so trusted , shall under their hands deliver true notes of the money collected , and the moneys themselves to the hands of Leonard Bowman of this City , Mercer , whom His Majesty doth appoynt to be treasurer for that purpose , and whose paines and care His Majesty intendeth to use in this charitable worke for the releife of these His Majesties poore Subjects , who shall expend the same according to such instructions as shall be given by the Commissioners appoynted for the care of His Majesties Army , sitting in the Audit house at Christ-Church .
