BY THE Lords-Justices AND COUNCIL , A PROCLAMATION . CHARLES PORTER , THO : CONINGESBY .

WHereas by Our Proclamation of the Nineteenth of November last , We did declare , that we would not give Protection to any Person who then had a Son in the Enemies Quarters , unless before the Tenth of December last , such Son should return to Their Majesties Obedience , and live peaceably within that part of this Kingdom under Their Majesties Power ; to which Son so returning with his Arms and Cattle , We promised Their Majesties Protection . And whereas upon humble application of many of the Parents of such Children , complaining of the shortness of the said time so allowed them for bringing in their said Sons under Their Majesties Obedience , We by Our Proclamation of the Eighth of December last , did further enlarge the time till the Tenth of this Instant January ; And now observing the good Effect of Our Clemency in this Affair , has produced that very many are come back , and live with their Parents peaceably under Their Majesties Government , and many others are daily returning to their Duties , and many of those yet remaining in the Enemies Quarters , watch only for a favourable Opportunity to make their Escape , of which their Intentions some of them have given good Proof , whereby those Families being united among themselves , are the better enabled to joyn with other Their Majesties good and loving Subjects against the Common Enemy for Restoring the Publick Peace . We do therefore hereby Publish and Declare that such Parents who have Sons with the said Rebels , if they shall before the Tenth day of February next , make their Personal appearance before some Iustice of the Peace of the County where they live , and take the Oath of Fidelity to Their Majesties , and enter into a Recognizance of a Summ agreable to their Qualities and Estates , Conditioned not to keep Correspondence with , nor to give any Aid or Assistance to their said Son or Sons , or any other of the said Rebels , but to appear at such place and time as they shall be Commanded , ten days after Summons left at their Houses or usual place of abode , for which Recognizance and a Certificate of the same , no Iustice of Peace is to take above Sixpence : Then the said Parents having Sons with the said Rebels as aforesaid , are notwithstanding to be continued in Their Majesties Protection without any Molestation ; But for such Parents as shall not comply with the Mercy and Favour hereby held forth unto them , they are left liable to be proceeded with according to the former Proclamations , notice thereof being first given unto this Board , and receiving their further Directions therein .
