WHEREAS it hath been a custom in the Cities and other great Towns of this Kingdom upon certain Festival days , and other solemn occasions of joy , to make Bonefires and other Fires in the streets , and the great concourse of idle people gathering about those Fires , hath of late occasion'd several Riots , Quarrels , and other great disorders , To prevent the like mischiefs for the future , it is thought convenient , and accordingly ordered , that no such Fires be hereafter made in the streets , or elsewhere , upon any solemnity or other occasions whatsoever , without special directions from vs the Lord Deputy , or other the Chief Governor for the time being of this Kingdom : And the respective Mayors and other the Chief Magistrates of the said Cities and Towns are hereby strictly charged and required to see this Our Order duly executed and obeyed ,
