GEntlemen , Though you have a New Name , yet I hope you are not all New Members , but most of you I hope , are Sons of that Blessed Church of England , that has been always unstain'd for Loyalty : And now it is the Wisdom of God to try Loyalty by Popery , I hope the Lord will give you such Wisdom to Distinguish between Loyalty and Popery , that you may retain your Loyalty to the End ; and I doubt not but You will obtain a Crown of Reward : And though there may be many things said against the King , yet do by him as you would have God do by you , and consider that he has been misled by strangers , as many Men has been misled by strange women , yet they are not willing their Wivei should turn them out of doors and take other Husbands , tho' they might do it by the Law , yet People would think such to be Bad Women : But I consider that He was Son to that Pious Prince whom spite and malice slew , and Brother to my Precious Soveraign under whose Wings you had Peace and Plenty , and for their Sakes as well as for his Own , I love him although I never lov'd Popery : and therefore I made Application to the King from Time to Time , to forbear Promoting it , for I lov'd the King and Kingdoms Peace . But since it is so , I beseech Your Honours , not to add greater Sins to lesser ; least at last you be without Hope :

Therefore I humbly beseech You to make Application to the Lords , that there may be a Fast for Your better Direction in this Great Affair , ( and because Mens Hearts are not prepared , that there may be Three Days Preparation before the Fast ) that You may find Grace and Favour before God that He may Direct You , that all your Doings may be for His Glory , and the Good of the King and Kingdom ; for you know that God would not allow the Children of Israel to go a whoring after other gods , neither is it His Will that your minds should run upon another king , but that You must Love Him , and Pray for Him , and wherein He has done Amiss , You must Pardon Him as you would have God Pardon You , Beseeching God to Convince and Convert Him , and be not Faithless but Believing : and in so Doing , You will oblidge Her who Wishes not any Thing above Your Present and Eternal Happiness .
